Manu Goffer is co-founder and chief operating officer of ReloomVR. ReloomVR did not begin with a business plan. It began when Manu Goffer’s brother Zvi took a VR camera to something ordinary: a friend watching a game with his ailing father. Nobody filming it knew it would be the last time.

The two brothers had already been working in immersive video through Campus VR, and that project had taught them something they could not unlearn. What moved people was never what they saw. It was what they felt. This was the proof. Manu’s job from that point on was the unglamorous half of the answer: turning a thing that had happened once, by accident, into something a family could book on a Tuesday and rely on.
Manu has now stood beside a lot of people during their first ten seconds in a ReloomVR headset, and the pattern almost never varies. Nobody comments on the resolution. Nobody mentions the stitching. Someone turns their head, because something is happening behind them, and their shoulders drop.
That instinctive turn is the whole product. It is also why so much of what Manu insists on looks, from the outside, like fussing over nothing. Where the camera stands so guests forget it is there. How long a take runs so a moment is not clipped a beat too early. What the ambient audio picks up. And above all, how the footage is finished so it is comfortable to watch. ReloomVR is nausea-free by design, and that is not a slogan. A beautiful film that makes a grandmother queasy has failed completely, however good it looked on a monitor.

A venue trying to show a room honestly. Manu’s read is that they are not buying VR.
